From Our Club President
Remembering President Emeritus Bill Mulkey

It is with sadness that I share with all of you the passing of our dearest friend, founding Dunwoody Rotary member PDG Bill Mulkey after a long illness.

Personally, Bill treated me so well and had been so welcoming to my wife and I since we joined the Dunwoody Rotary Club. He leaves a legacy of leadership that will long serve to inspire us all.

Arrangements (Visitation & Funeral) A.S. Turner & Sons 2773 N Decatur Rd Decatur, GA Visitation - Saturday 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM Funeral - Sunday 1:00 PM

I will keep you updated on further developments, and we will share more of the legacy of Bill Mulkey in the days, weeks and months to come.

Please keep his family and specially his wife Beverly in your thoughts and prayers.

This Week's Speaker
Dunwoody Police Chief Billy Grogan ... In-Person and Zoom

This week's speaker is our own Dunwoody Police Chief Billy Grogan. Rumor has it he may be joined by at least one member of the Dunwoody K-9 squad. You can join us in-person at Le Meridien Atlanta Perimeter or via Zoom at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86202979419

Billy Grogan became the first Chief of Police for the new City of Dunwoody in December 2008 after completing a 28-year career with the Marietta Police Department as a Deputy Chief. He joined the Rotary Club of Dunwoody six months later - in June 2009.

Billy has a Masters of Public Administration from Kennesaw State University and is a graduate of the 193rd Session of the FBI National Academy. [more]

Best New Year's Party Ever
Join Dunwoody Rotary's Independence Day Celebration on Monday, July 5!

For the last 30 years, Dunwoody Rotarians have joined in fun of the Dunwoody Fourth of July Celebration - taking the story of the work we do into the streets of the state's largest Fourth of July parade and operating our hot dog stand. For many Rotarians, the Dunwoody Fourth of July Celebration was a chance to celebrate a new year in Rotary, and to bring along the family (and sometimes the family dog) to enjoy a day in the community. We have been a sponsor of this event since it started in 1991.

We're inviting you to continue that tradition! Past Presidents Anne Glenn and Jackie Cuthbert are working on the float and parade, while Kobelah Svensen Bennah and Ed Holiday join forces to dish up great July 4 hot dogs with the trimmings - all served with a measure of fun!

This year's Dunwoody celebration actually takes place Monday, July 5 (as it does any year when the Fourth is a Sunday). We'd like you to come - bring your family and friends, march in the parade, work a shift at the hot dog and baked goods booth. Sign up at one of our June meetings - or reach out to Anne, Jackie, Kobelah or Ed.

Join Our Year End Celebration on June 17

Our Year-End Celebration - featuring fellowship, awards, food and libations - will take place at the Dunwoody Country Club on Thursday, June 17 at 6:00 PM. Come to celebrate all that we've accomplished this year under President Ardy Bastien's leadership and to welcome President-Elect Carter Stout and his team for what promises to be a fun-filled new year of doing good in the community.

The event will include a buffet and beverages - watch for more details as the date gets closer.

Please let Past President Rick Woods know if you are coming and whether you are bringing a guest -  you can write to him at sdoowrm@gmail.com.

Thanks for Your Service
Dunwoody Supports Special Olympics Horse Show

On a cold cloudy Saturday morning, 15 members of our Family of Rotary and the Atlanta Metro Rotaract Club gathered to help Special Olympics with its first competition since the COVID-19 lockdown. We staffed the "front desk" and the merchandise booth, served as announcers, handed out Chick-fil-A gift cards to competitors, assisted with competition equipment, ran scores to the judging table, took photos and enjoyed watching these excited Olympians and their horses run through their paces.

Volunteer and Program Manager Hannah Creasey said, "Thank you all for supporting Special Olympics Georgia at the State Horse Show this year. The show could not have gone on without you all!"
